Measuring Principle

Positive displacement meters, including Oval Gear meters, measure volumetric flow rate of a liquid or gas passing through the meter by repeatedly entrapping it with rotating parts to measure the volume.

How It Measures

Oval gear meters consist of two toothed precision wheels that are oval shaped. As fluid passes through the meter, the oval wheels rotate proportionately—the number of rotations is equal to the volume measurement.
