Advancing Sustainability With the ModMAG® M2000 Electromagnetic Flow Meter

Are you looking to reduce costs, comply with regulations or upgrade to the latest technology without significant modifications to your system? The ModMAG® M2000 electromagnetic flow meter provides dependable performance with zero straight run requirements and easy integration with building management systems (BMS).

ModMAG® M2000 Electromagnetic Flow Meter now certified

M2000 Meter Benefits

Chief and facility engineers, facilities managers and controls and plumbing contractors can install the M2000 meter without significantly modifying their applications, saving time and installation costs. Additional benefits include:

Zero Straight Run

The M2000 meter measures the flow of water and conductive liquids with zero straight run required. Its performance has been validated to OIML/MID standards, providing accuracies of ±1% with zero straight run up or down or ±0.2% with required straight run. Both accuracy ratings are available out of the box, without needing firmware adjustments.

Precision

Provides accurate measurements up to ±0.2% with required straight run or ±1% with zero straight run requirements for a wide variety of outputs to connect to your system. With precise data, commercial and industrial facility operators can reduce energy expenses and optimize both hydronic systems and building cost allocation.

Enhanced Data

This meter is available with BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU and EtherNet/IP communication protocols and integrates into existing operations to provide enhanced data points.

Full-Bore Design

Features a full-bore design, which means that there is no size reduction resulting in undesirable pressure drops. Also promotes confidence by being highly repeatable up to ±0.1% with little to no maintenance required.

New Communication Protocols Available

The M2000 meter is now available with BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP and EtherNet/IP communication protocols. Existing M2000 meters can be retrofit with these protocols using an upgrade kit—installation takes a single user less than 30 minutes.

The M2000 meter has also completed rigorous testing for the BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL) Certification Program, assuring seamless integration with BMS. The M2000 meter is the first full-bore inline electromagnetic meter to achieve BTL Certification.

Mission-Critical HVAC Installations

Electromagnetic flow meter application in data center.

  • Reliable: On projects involving data centers and other facilities with mission-critical HVAC requirements, there is a need for the highest possible measurement accuracy and versatility. The M2000 meter is an ideal choice for these projects, due to its precision liquid measurement capability with zero straight run required and durability with standard Hastelloy C electrodes.
  • Standardized: Badger Meter provides a best-in-class electromagnetic flow meter without extra costs for material upgrades, accuracy enhancements or other product add-ons. For example, the M2000 meter’s standard hard rubber liner offers a higher temperature rating than competitive products without requiring the customer to choose a special option or incur an additional surcharge.
  • Ready to Use: The M2000 meter eliminates complexity by working out of the box with industry-leading features, including the option for communication protocols—at a very competitive price. It provides impressive accuracy with zero straight run or required straight run and can be installed horizontally or vertically to meet your needs.

Hot/Chilled Water Systems

Electromagnetic flow meter application in hot or chilled water systems.

  • Dependable: Facility operators must have a reliable means of staging chillers and boilers, and maintaining efficient operations based on fluctuating chilled/hot water demand. To do so, they need to deploy a precise and dependable flow measurement solution. The M2000 meter is a full-bore instrument with virtually no pressure drop, which eliminates energy loss within the hydronic system. The meter has no moving parts to clog or fail over time and delivers consistent, high-accuracy liquid flow measurements.
  • Rugged: Unlike other electromagnetic flow meter suppliers, Badger Meter has standardized Hastelloy C for its electrodes—the heart of every mag meter. This super-alloy is exceptionally non-corrosive and does not experience oxidation over time. The use of Hastelloy C as a sensor alloy ensures the M2000 meter’s electrodes remain pristine and have high sensitivity for the life of the application.
  • Cost Effective: Badger Meter controls the entire supply chain process for the M2000 meter—from design, engineering and manufacturing, to testing and delivery. The meter isn’t produced by an OEM, as with other suppliers. This approach helps to reduce cost, improve service and assure customers of readily available spare parts if needed.

Instrument-Intensive Environments

Electromagnetic flow meter used for cloud-based proactive water intellligence.

  • Versatile: Oftentimes, hydronic system and plumbing applications are complexly designed with limited space for meter installation. In applications where adequate straight run is not available or achievable, the M2000 meter is an option to reduce installation time and cost with zero straight run required.
  • Efficient: The M2000 meter is delivered as an out-of-the-box solution to maximize system uptime. Project budget limitations, schedule constraints and other factors all make it imperative to specify, order and install flow meters as quickly as possible. Lengthy shutdowns for meter deployment are unacceptable in hydronic system applications.
  • Proven: Unlike other electromagnetic devices, the M2000 meter comes standard with Hastelloy C electrodes, a high-temperature rubber liner, air-gapped alarms and other advanced features that enable customers to achieve and maintain the highest level of flow measurement performance.
