Badger Meter to Feature Solutions for Today’s Wastewater Treatment Challenges at WEFTEC 2023

During WEFTEC 2023, Badger Meter will share how our flow measurement and pressure and water quality monitoring solutions give customers greater visibility, efficiency and control at booth 831.
MILWAUKEE, Wis., SEPTEMBER 28, 2023 – Badger Meter will present its flow measurement and pressure and water quality monitoring portfolio at booth 831 during the WEFTEC 2023 conference and exhibition, October 2‒4 in Chicago, Illinois.

The company’s solutions for intelligent measurement, reliable communication and actionable data can help customers reduce costs, mitigate risk, optimize assets and enhance sustainability.

"Our multiparameter monitoring solutions address the water quality needs of today's utilities," said Matt Stuyvenberg, Vice President of Software and Water Quality at Badger Meter. "Municipal, commercial and industrial customers can gain greater insight into their water systems by deploying spectrometer probes, physical sensors, monitoring stations, pressure and leak detection tools, and terminals and software."

Intelligent Measurement

Through accurate, repeatable, relatable and timebound data, intelligent measurement can help you monitor critical parameters like flow, temperature, pressure and quality for a complete analysis of your system:

  • Water quality monitoring
    • MetriNet is a low-power, modular system that monitors water quality for eight parameters at remote locations, offering continuous data collection from anywhere in a distribution network. Timely warnings and analysis of water quality anomalies help to detect and prioritize leaks in a network, enabling proactive network management.
    • The spectro::lyser V3 is the next generation of spectrometers for online water quality monitoring and a powerful tool in wastewater treatment optimization. It uses UV-Vis spectrometry over the total range (190…750 nm) to monitor individual, application-specific parameters, such as TSS, BOD, COD, turbidity (NTU), nitrate (NO3) and UV254.
  • Flow measurement
    • The Dynasonics® TFX-5000 Ultrasonic clamp-on flow meter attaches to a pipe's exterior to measure the volumetric flow of clean liquids and those with small amounts of suspended solids or aeration, such as surface water or raw sewage. This meter is ideal for water and wastewater treatment, distribution, collection and reclaimed water applications.
    • The ModMAG® M2000 Electromagnetic flow meter measures the flow of water and conductive liquids with zero straight run required. Its performance has been validated to OIML/MID standards, providing accuracies of ±1% with zero straight run up or down or ±0.2% with appropriate straight run.
  • Gas monitoring
    • Ensure plant safety with online gas monitoring for chemicals such as chlorine, H2S and methane. Monitor over 60 toxic and combustible gases with a range of instruments, from portable, hand-held devices to bespoke, smart, multi-gas fixed detection systems.

Reliable Communication

Across the entire water treatment cycle—collection, filtration, aeration, treatment, disinfection, dosing, pumping and distribution—operations managers depend on accurate, reliable flow meters to ensure operations run smoothly and safely. The latest technology, including communication protocols, ensures users are in the know:

  • The ModMAG M2000 Electromagnetic flow meter is now available with Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Ethernet/IP and HART protocols to provide enhanced data, including bi-directional flow rate, totalizers in multiple directions, empty pipe statuses, leak alarms, no flow statuses and more. The M2000 meter offers connectivity to BEACON® Software as a Service (SaaS) or AquaCUE® Flow Measurement Manager via the cellular network.
  • Along with data logging, the Dynasonics TFX-5000 Ultrasonic Clamp-on flow meter offers a wide range of connectivity options, including Modbus RTU, Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP. Users can pair the TFX-5000 meter with BEACON and AquaCUE to provide flow data for consumption analysis, leak detection and other purposes.
  • con::line and con::cube V3 terminals and Q-Series sensors can interface with BEACON and SCADA systems via cellular communication or common industrial protocols.

Actionable Data

Obtaining data is only the beginning. For data to be truly valuable, it must support proactive decision-making for optimized management:

  • pipe::scan is an NSF/ANSI/CAN 61- and 372-certified modular sensor system that measures up to 10 water quality parameters, including organics, under pressure and without the maintenance, chemicals and bypass streams associated with traditional solutions.
  • PIPEMINDER-ONE is ideally suited for force main monitoring in water and wastewater collection networks. It collects and analyzes high-resolution transient pressure data, which expands network visibility for extended asset life.
  • From influent to effluent, wastewater monitoring stations provide continuous data and measure COD, BOD, DO, NTU, NH4+, NO3 and more.

In addition, Badger Meter offers Software as a Service for flow measurement, leak detection, pressure monitoring and water quality monitoring. The system provides data during distribution and collection and integrates with SCADA and GIS for intuitive and actionable information about your water network.

Technology Spotlight

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, join Bill Popp, North America Sales Manager at Badger Meter, in the Tech Spotlight Lounge where he will participate in the Chemical Disinfection Solutions Roundtable. Attendees will learn key aspects for the successful installation and operation of chemical disinfection systems and recognize how chemical disinfection systems are evolving to address emerging water quality issues. The session begins at 9 a.m.
