Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) is a colorless, toxic and corrosive gas with an irritating pungent odor, primarily originating from combustion processes and industrial activities.
Breathing in sulfur dioxide causes irritation of the nose and throat and exposure to higher concentrations can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and corrosive damage to the airways and lungs. Many processes using Sulfur Dioxide are subject to strict gas detection regulations, therefore careful monitoring to detect and protect is vital as part of Quality Controls Programs.
